High above the skyline of Jakarta, DV Residence unfolds as an expansive 800-square-metre penthouse shaped by the intimacy of family life. Designed by KantorGG, the home embodies the quiet strength of connection — between generations, between materials, and between space and emotion.

For the family, the move from a landed house to a penthouse marked more than a change in address. It offered a chance to redefine togetherness. Instead of dividing the home into isolated zones, the design encourages gentle transitions, allowing moments of gathering and solitude to unfold naturally.

“We wanted to create a space where family bond is truly celebrated,” says Joel, Principal Interior Designer. “Not through walls or partitions, but through how boundaries can soften — where connection is felt even in silence.”

The residence is organized into two wings, linked by corridors and shared spaces that guide movement with ease. Warmth becomes the unifying thread. Continuous ash and walnut timber slats trace the ceilings and walls, grounding the large volume with softness and rhythm. Their direction subtly shifts to distinguish the parents’ wing from the younger couple’s space — a quiet gesture that preserves unity while acknowledging individuality.

Stone brings a contrasting solidity. The central lift core, wrapped in Petra Grey marble, anchors the home and forms a tactile counterbalance to the surrounding timber. Together, the materials create a dialogue between texture and tone, lightness and weight.

One of the home’s defining features greets visitors upon entry: a mirrored sky pool that reflects the surrounding city. Its reflective ceiling expands the sense of space, blending water, skyline, and light into a single, floating horizon.

As the home unfolds, its sequence of experiences mirrors the family’s rhythm. Open living and dining areas anchor the parents’ wing, while quieter spaces — a private study, intimate corridors — offer moments of pause. In the younger family’s wing, a generous family room becomes the heart of daily life, complemented by a soft-toned pantry featuring a custom artwork that honors the family’s heritage.

Behind the calm refinement of DV Residence lies a culture of deep collaboration. From contractors to material specialists, every partner contributed to realizing the design with precision. A full 3D model of the air-conditioning and ducting system, prepared early by the mechanical and electrical team, allowed an uncommon level of coordination. Timber installation, too, required meticulous testing to achieve the perfect tone and alignment.

In the end, the home emerged exactly as envisioned — proportionate, harmonious, and deeply felt. But what defines DV Residence is not only its craftsmanship; it is the trust behind it.

“The clients were fully trusting,” Joel reflects. “Their happiness at the end — that’s what matters. It reminds us why we design.”
