A Practice in Floating Form and Urban Constraint, Interpreted Through a Collector’s Lens.

BR59 is a tropical modern contemporary residence located in Singapore, conceived as a floating architectural composition within a dense urban context. Oriented toward the northwest, the house employs expansive glazing and warm timber elements, drawing inspiration from tropical architecture while carefully moderating light and heat. The building is articulated as a series of interlocking masses unified within a single structure, accommodating six levels designed to support multi-generational living.

The project represents a dialogue between local Singaporean residential typologies and KantorGG’s architectural language, balancing regulation with expressive form. Strict height limitations of 12 meters and mandatory fire access routes informed the building’s proportions and spatial organization. The arrival sequence unfolds through a curated art gallery, reflecting the owner’s identity as an art and automotive collector. Below, the basement is designed as a private showroom, housing motorcycles and a special car collection. The overall expression is deliberately masculine and box-driven—precise, restrained, and confident in character.
